Skin pigmentation is one of the skin discolouration which occurs when our skin colour do not look even. Skin discolouration happens when there's part of the skin which looks brown, black, red or even white in colour. Skin discolouration can be caused by one or more of the following:

  • Scars

  • Blackheads

  • Enlarged pores

  • Pimples

  • Skin tags

  • Oil tags

  • Moles

  • Age spots

At Annabelle Skin, we specialise in dealing with uneven colours on the skin caused by scars, blackheads, enlarged pores, pimples and age spots.

Capillary Dilation

One of the most common reason for skin pigmentation is due to aging. As we age, our skin gets thinner- resulting in capillary dilation. This results in the capillary under our skin becoming more visible, hence showing red patches on the skin.

As time goes by, the redness will turn brown.

How to we reduce skin pigmentation?

Skin pigmentation affects both men and women alike. Some of the common causes of skin pigmentation are as follows:

  • UV exposure

  • Health conditions

  • Hormone changes- hormone pills, or during menopause

  • Emotions

  • Fatigue

  • Age

Fortunately, there are several methods to reduce skin pigmentation. Here are some of the following:

  1. Reduce the production of melanin. There are several skincare products with ingredients that can help block the production of melanin. One of the key ingredients to look out for will be Vitamin C. With improvement of technology, there are new knowledge to the type of ingredients and products which can effectively reduce melanin production of the skin as well. At Annabelle, we are constantly upgrading our knowledge on the best products in the market to help our customers achieve their skin goals.

  2. Increase cell regeneration. Unfortunately, pigmentation is not as easily erased like pencil marks. In order for the skin pigmentation to disappear, we need our skin to regenerate where the new skin replaces the old.

  3. Increase thickness of the skin. That will result in the capillary under our skin to be less visible.

  4. Increase nutrients in skin. Skin being our largest organ, will also require plenty of nutrients just like any part of our body. On top of healthy diet and habits, we can feed our skin nutrients with the right products as well.
